On Fleeting Days, modern day folknik Dan Bern bastes his songs with a tangy, twangy sauce that will remind you of Austin, Texas, barbeque. Here he sounds like a young Tom Petty who has tapped into some Doug Sahm records. Still, Bern has his own quirky songwriting style, and it's one that would make Ben Folds stand up and applaud.
