The angst is as heavy as the guitar riffs on Blindside's Silence, the first release on P.O.D.'s boutique label, Three Points. This Swedish band -- call it either emotional metal or metallic emo, depending on your referencepoints -- delivers run-of-the-mill, dense chord progressions and works a predictable build-release dynamic. They're redeemed by their popsavoir-faire: Songs such as "Pitiful" and "The Endings" are both knee-bucklingly intense and irresistibly singable.
